Cartoon shows before the new millennium.

22:53

Yes, cartoons. Cartoons are not only for children but even teens and adults. Some cartoons may be stupid but they help relieve stress too. Get a break and laugh your heads off.

Cartoons are also important to a child's growth. They get to learn new stuff and words, new languages too! My limited Spanish was from Dora the Explorer. Hahaha.

Dora the Explorer

I really missed those cartoons that I watched when I was a kid. They were just so GREAT to me [well, most of them were]. Cartoons nowadays are OK but watching something that you grew up to is such an AWESOME feeling. Some cartoons are still running on TV but some others were stopped.

Let's take a look at what most kids watch before the new millennium, shall we?
Well, you may probably find those some cartoons that were produced in the year 2000 too.

Mickey Mouse

With its first debut in 1928, Mickey Mouse won the hearts of billions. Guess I don't have to explain much about Mickey and his friends then. :D

Bugs Bunny

Ever heard of Bugs Bunny? NO? WHAT DO YOU MEAN NO?! The rabbit from 1938 with an annoying habit of chewing on a carrot and saying "What's up, Doc?" ???!!

Tom & Jerry

And, who doesn't know Tom & Jerry? They're famous! They made their first appearance in 1940. Of course, they don't look much like the Tom and Jerry that we know now.
Gosh! After 70 years, they're still as famous as ever.

Tweety

Tweety Bird also made its first appearance around the 1940s. Cute little Tweety was one of my favorite childhood memories. Sylvester the cat and Granny were also part of the show later on. Ain't he the cutest bird ever? :3   [meh. sorry Tweety, for the cat-face.]

The Flintstones

The Flintstones, a cartoon series with a Stone Age setting, first appeared in 1960. When I was small, I often wondered how my hair would look if I put a bone through it. Come to think of it, I was so naive. If you're wondering, no. I havn't tried putting a bone through my hair.

Popeye

Spinach makes you grow muscles? Well, you'd have to ask Popeye about that. He starred in a Betty Boop cartoon in 1933 [no. I don't watch Betty Boop] and had his own cartoon series later on in the 1960s.

Pink Panther

The Pink Panther made its first appearance in 1963 and is known for its mischievousness. Of course, there's also the Inspector Clouseau and his sidekick. x)

Scooby Doo

Another one of my favorites is Scooby-Doo! From 1969 till now, it is one of the best mystery-solving cartoons. With the easily frightened and food-loving Scooby and Shaggy, anything could happen. ;)
Yes, they are hilarious too.

Winnie the Pooh

Adapted from A.A. Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh books, Disney's Winnie the Pooh cartoons which started in 1977 are just as awesome. Pooh couldn't resist the temptation of honey and is often stuck at his friend, Rabbit's house [Rabbit's house has lots of honey, don't ask my why] and his friends have to pull him out, as shown in the picture above. Hahaha.

The Simpsons

Of course, how could we forget the ever-famous Simpsons family? They first appeared as Shorts in 1987. Since then, there have been lots of hilariously crazy moments for most of us.

Garfield

Garfield, first showed in 1988, is often described as a fat and lazy tabby cat. Well, I think that he's a chubby tabby cat with attitude.  Seriously, I kinda admire him, nothing but eat and sleep and trying to get Nermal off the grounds.

Dexter's Laboratory

Dexter's Laboratory, a.k.a. boy genius with an annoying sister, DeeDee who kept disturbing him in his secret laboratory, was first shown in 1995. Seriously, DeeDee is super annoying and there's always "oooooh, what's this button for?" followed by an explosion in Dexter's Lab.

Powerpuff Girls

"In the city of Townsville..." Is this phrase familiar to you? Yes. It's from Powerpuff Girls, which started in 1998.
Apparently, these three girls with super powers were created when the professor mixed sugar, spice, everything nice and a little Chemical X by accident.
Anyway, I like their eyes. I used to draw them when I was small. Not to mention I did it not too badly. x)

The Fairly Oddparents

Parents forgetting your birthday? Often handed over to an evil babysitter? Living a miserable life? Brighten up your life with the Fairly Oddparents. First showed in 1998, it features a 10 year old Timmy Turner whose life sucked until he met his very own fairies.

Spongebob Squarepants

Currently my favorite cartoon show, Spongebob Squarepants first aired in 1999. Spongebob is of course, a sponge. Yet, he is a sponge who lives underwater. He has a starfish bestie, a squid friend and a crab employer. Illogically, he also has a squirrel friend wearing a spacesuit who lives underwater too. Meh. Logic or not, its still funny. x)

Guess that's all for now. There are also lots of other cartoons like Batman, Spiderman, Wonder Woman, Samurai Jack, Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken, etc. I don't watch them as often so... I omitted them.

-pictures in this post are from Google-

Cartoons are mostly just for laughs. Do not take them too seriously. ;)

Off to bed and good night!
