HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!

15:48

Chinese New Year is a festival which usually lasts for 15 days. It starts on the first day of the lunar calendar, usually on January or February.

Kids enjoy this celebration because they usually get a lot of red packets called "angpau"s, which is filled with money :D Anyway, you are eligible to receive "angpau"s if you are not married.

Red is the colour of prosperity. That's why you'll see the colour on the decorations.
It is the year of the dragons this year. The years are represented by the 12 Chinese Zodiacs: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig.

Chinese New Year is usually celebrated with fireworks and lion dances. Chinese also visit their friends and families during this time of the year.

There is also a dish called "yeesang" which is a must for Chinese New Year. There are a few kinds of "yeesang", some come with abalone or salmon. Everyone gets together and says prosperous things like "good health", "wealthy year" and so on. Of course, the epic one: HUAT AH!  [ something like "money, come to papa" :D ]

Well, it is the 10th day of Chinese New Year today. Let's hope that I get more angpaus. *fingers crossed*
