Following the salted egg craze, we decided to give Asanoya's salted egg croissants a try. The salted egg croisants at Asanoya sells out very fast (within 2 hours, according to most patrons) so we went there around 12pm on a weekday.
Fresh croissants at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm daily.

And.. *bonus* it is also within walking distance from Lasalle!

To be honest, I probably passed by this place on the way to the Singapore Art Museum and I never did notice as it looks like a regular glassed office building from the outside. Oops.



There are just too many choices and we did not know which to order. Took us quite some time to figure out which ones looked most appetising and worth-the-money. Decided to order a few pastries and share, cause we couldn't really pick our favourites.
The cashier looked at us funny when we told her that we wanted 5 pieces. She did offer to reheat the pastries though.

They also serve set lunches and beverages such as coffee and tea.



Asanoya don't sell the normal plain salted egg croissants anymore but they do have other fusions to make up for it.
Black and white, yin and yang. OK that was lame.



Matcha Salted Egg Croissant (S$4.90).
It tasted like kaya on the first bite (yikes!) but after a while the matcha and salted egg flavours started to become more obvious. It's more of the aftertaste, really.
Other than that, it was good but I'm not that much of a matcha person so I could just do with half a croissant.



Maple Salted Egg Croissant (S$4.90).
We didn't manage to make the filling flow out beautifully like the advertorial photos so here is a photo of it before it was cut open. Was skeptical at first but I absolutely love the play of sweet and savoury flavours. Fluffy fragrant croissant together with salted egg filling and a hint of maple sugar, this has got to be the favourite of the table.
Could have had the whole thing to myself -evil laugh-.



The French Potato (S$3.20) looked savoury enough so we had one too. Whole potato in French bread with some mayo and butter. The bread was a little tough so it was difficult to chew, especially when you have braces on.
Experimented a little and realised that it tastes better with mashed potato and there was no convenient way to actually have mashed potato in the French bread. Oh well, there's always the mash-your-own-potato-after-the-pastry-is-served option.



Ham and Cheese Crispy Donut (S$3, i suppose?). Crispy as promised, and flavourful too. However, it is sinful food for most people who count calories as it is deep-fried.



Royal Milk Tea Bread (S$4.20).
The loaf was soft, fluffy and had a strong tea taste to it (more than other tea-flavoured things elsewhere), you could almost say that you're drinking tea. It is also drizzled with condensed milk to spice sweeten it up a little.

The meal cost about S$20 in total and was to be split between 3 people so I guess it was worth the money if you don't mind having pastries for lunch (mind you, they are quite filling).


Will definitely visit again soon.

Woke up on a Saturday morning to find that we will be having brunch at W39, one of the few cafes near my area. It was on my to-go list but I couldn't seem to find time to visit the place, nor could I get someone to share my food, until now.

Yes, I've kinda ran out of post title ideas. Might as well keep it short and to the point.


It all began when I found out that there was a promotion at the Nadeje outlet at Sunway Giza. I got a few friends and went to Kota Damansara after school. Unfortunately, we gave up queuing and decided to go to Dreamz Bakery at The Strand instead.

That was my second visit to The Strand and I was not too familiar with it. We took quite sometime before we located the place. And we made it by foot! The Strand is within walking distance from Sunway Giza but I'd still advise you to take a car together with a navigating system as you may get a little lost if you are unfamiliar with the place.

We managed to get to Dreamz Bakery somehow.





I didn't do much research this time and I certainly didn't expect it to be this cozy!
A piece of advice though: You wouldn't want to put on complicated footwear as you have to remove them prior to entering the place.





They also sell knick-knacks of all sorts near the cashier. The shelves are full of cookies, sweets, and also various decorative items. I didn't bring much money out that day so I decided to not get anything from the shelves. :/









We got a table by the windows so there is enough light and also, it's a very comfortable space and you get to sit cross-legged on the floor (with cushions, of course). They don't have chairs with back support there. Some people are uncomfortable with that whilst some others are OK with it. It differs.





Dammann Frères Earl Grey - RM8.90

We wanted to have coffee but unfortunately, the water rationing problem in KL and Selangor areas made it impossible for us to get our coffee. We opted for tea instead. It's been so long since I last had an Earl Grey. Their teapot and teacup are stackable (wow because I havn't seen a proper teapot for so long).

Located in WOLO Hotel, Bukit Bintang (which is more or less opposite the H&M at Lot 10), Tous les Jours (too-leh-joo) is a French-Western bakery owned by a South Korean company. It literally means "Everyday" but well, Tous les Jours is a better name for a bakery.

I've walked past Bukit Bintang numerous times and I passed by the bakery quite a few times before I finally found the time to grab a bite there, since quite a few friends recommended it.







Both the interior and the exterior of the bakery are splendid. It is a fusion of old and new (since I still havn't got the hang of architecture I have nothing to add). It is also a good place to gather with a few friends and talk over a cup of coffee and pastries.







You can get anything from a sandwich to a madeleine, to a baguette there.



The croissant was a little too buttery but the apple pie is quite good, according to my mom.

My friend got me a strawberry milk bun once. I'm not a huge fan of strawberry but the bun is quite OK and it's not too milky.



They also sell jam there. Someday I'll get one and try it, who knows?





There are lots of desserts too. I wanted to try so many but I could only choose one as I couldn't get anyone to share it with me.
